What We Do

Monthly Member Meetings

Each month, HPG members come together to share updates, learn from guest speakers, and collaborate on ways to strengthen Oregon’s home performance industry. These meetings are a space for connection and problem-solving-where contractors, nonprofits, and partners exchange ideas, explore new opportunities, and stay informed about the latest trends, incentives, and best practices in building performance. Everyone leaves with fresh insights and stronger connections across the community. Monthly Member Meetings are typically the third Thursday of the month from approximately 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at a variety of locations in the Portland metro area.

Advocacy

The HPG advocates for policies and programs that support energy-efficient, healthy, and affordable homes across Oregon. We work with program designers, funders, implementers, and community organizations to advance incentives, standards, and initiatives that benefit homeowners, contractors, and the broader home performance industry. Through our equity-centered advocacy, HPG ensures that our members’ diverse voices and ideas are heard and that sustainable, high-performance homes remain a priority in policy, funding, and planning decisions.

Mentorship

HPG strengthens the home performance industry by connecting experienced professionals with emerging talent to foster their skills and uplevel their businesses. Through one-on-one guidance, skill-building, and knowledge sharing, mentors help emerging professionals, new business owners, and other contractors navigate challenges, grow their expertise, and advance their careers. Mentorship fosters collaboration, supports professional development, and ensures the next generation of contractors and specialists is well-prepared for success.

Tool Lending Library

The HPG Tool Lending Library gives members access to a wide range of professional-grade tools for home performance projects, from diagnostic equipment to specialized installation tools to help members save money, try out new technologies, and complete projects safely and efficiently.

Peer Group Learning

HPG offers peer group learning cohorts specifically designed for construction and home performance contractors to receive peer support and learn new skills. These cohorts support home performance contractors in strengthening their technical expertise, business operations, and wellness education.

On-The-Job Contractor Mentorship

HPG pairs new and emerging contractors with experienced HPG members for hands-on, real-world learning in home performance techniques and business operations. This mentorship opportunity is funded by the Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund (PCEF).
